Hampshire Commissioners Say No to TrAIL

The Hampshire County Commissioners voted unanimously today to oppose the Allegheny TrAIL Power Line and to oppose the designation of a National Interest Energy Transmission corridor proposed by PJM and to be decided by FERC.

The exact resolution is forthcoming, and we will post it here as soon as we get a copy. (2/24/2007: Here is a PDF file of the official resolution signed by the commissioners.)

A delegation from the Capon Valley Coalition spoke before the vote and reported that the commissioners listened courteously and sympathetically. We appreciate the commissioners’ hearing and their support in this vital matter for the Capon Valley.

We have hopes that the Hampshire Review will report on this important development.

Hardy County folks, get your letters in to your commissioners. (Contact information appears on the Take Action page.) And sign that petition. Your voice matters, but you have to speak loudly enough to be heard.

Don’t forget your state lawmakers, Congresswoman Capito and U.S. Sens. Robert Byrd and Jay Rockefeller. They ALL need to hear from you. Now you can mention in your letters that your Hampshire County Commissioners stand with you!

    Say NO to TrAIL.
